Fullerton Theatre in 3D

In 30 years as a theatre professional I have never seen a regional theatre with the ambition, creativity, quality and high production values as 3D Threatricals' shows at the Plummer. I come home feeling like I have eaten a rich 5 course meal, completely full. Their shows have a lot of the richness of Broadway, with the feeling of home. If you missed last season, you missed the best new thing in Fullerton. I strongly urge you all to get season tickets to their upcoming season!

Legacy Exhibit!

Its a shame we didn't get more press lately. Its not every day you write a nationally published book on local history, show never before seen photos in our gallery, and report at our annula meeting last week tripling our programs and doubling our budget in worse economy since the 1930s. Yet no one picked up on these feats.

However, you can see the beautifully restored photos of the Muckenthalers from 1900-1965 in our gallery now. Come check it out and tell your friends we are the best kept secret and we don't want to be so secret anymore!

Fullerton Burger Paradise

Each Fri & Sat night at Rialto Cafe in Downtown Fullerton, it is transformed to a burger paradise.
Awesome juicy burgers like I make myself at home. Great sauces. Homemade catchup. Great onion rings. My only complaints- a lil too juicy as in greasy goodness and thinner fries would be nice.

Train Tip

If you ever want to take Metrolink to LA for the day, the big drawback is few choices to come home and nothing after 6:30 pm. But now if a group of friends want to go you can get 10 rides on Amtrak for $7 each to Union Station. So 5 people can go for $14 round trip and they are good for 60 days from purchase. Also with a metro day pass for $5 there are free orange buses all over downtown you can take anywhere. And subway to the rest of LA. Its a very cool, cheap way to get around LA without a car.

New food in Fullerton

Kentro is a new greek place downtown and Mestizos Mexican Grill is a new fast food spot next to Ralph's. The greek place is good food, not too expensive but other than the fries, nothing to write home about. Mastizos, on the other hand, has some amazing flavors going on in their specialty tacos and burritos. Check it out for yourself.

Fullerton Sisters I Love

The Fullerton Sister City Association is one of the best kept secrets in Fullerton.  Its run by a great guy, Mike Oates, and helps bring students form Fullerton around the world for cultural experiences, brings students here from our sister cities in Japan, Korea and Mexico, and helps us at the Muckenthaler do cross-cultural exhibitions of art with these countries.  Artists come to visit us and we visit them.  Last week a group of 10 graet 8th and 9th graders came to visit us from Fukui, Japan. Next week I will be going to Japan with an exhibition we had here in June. Many artsist get to exhibit internationally because of this program.  And in November we will be hosting an International Taco Festival fundraiser. To find out more go to:

See My Show at the OC County Fair!

I will be performing at the Barn Dance Stage at 12:15 PM and 2:15 PM this Sunday August 14, 2011 at the OC County Fair!  You can see Billy Button, the Robot, and hear tall tales about Homer my pet catfish, the county fair pie lady and others. It will be a rollicking good time and we'll eat some fried stuff.  He's a sample of Billy Button:

Hot Time in The City

Friday we took a group from the Muck on a train tour to downtown LA for a cornucopia of free concerts and events downtown. For the price of a $12 ticket you can ride the train to LA, and the metro all day including quick and often orange buses that run all over downtown. We saw free quality concerts at California Plaza- Grand Performances, got free tours of the Central Library, Bradbury Building and Fine Arts Building- architectural gems; rode the Angel's Flight for a quarter, sampled our way through Grand Central Market; danced our way through LA Live and free Disco at the Music Center; saw costumes at the free gallery at FIDM; and there was a free concert and film at Pershing Square. Its amazing what awaits downtown LA for the price of a train ticket there.  And the train is fun too! You can eat, dance, and entertain your way through downtown.
